Finding the real Fiji on foot
A long walk from Denarau to Nadi, edited down to just 14 minutes of screen time.
Kia ora! Bula vinaka! Hi! How are you doing? Care to tell me something good about your world right now?
It’s about -32° in Nelson right now (don’t worry, it only feels about -35°. Bigger number, warmer, right?). Who would have thought the South Island got colder than Northland in winter? I’m still in my shorts, which might explain why I like to mention how cold I feel more often round here.
Trousers are just so… formal. Sorry, trouser wearers.
Anyway, talking temperatures, here’s a throwback to a month ago in Fiji, when I was too hot wearing shorts. Eager to break off the shackles of the sanitised resort area of Denarau and meet some real locals, I crossed the bridge and walked the slender, dusty roads to Nadi.
You can watch (or skim through) what happened in that video I just crudely pasted up the top there, without explanation. Until now. Apologies about the sponsor off the top - I don’t have the mind or the nous to separate these things.
Stay warm where you are! And here’s to more vitamin D and less sub-Z1.
